What should I do while I wait for the plumber?
Turn off the water main at the meter — usually in a box near the front boundary. Turn it clockwise to close. If water has been near power points or the switchboard, flip the power off too and keep clear. Then ring us on 0491 904 769.
Do you come out after hours for burst pipes?
Yes — burst pipes and major leaks are exactly what our after-hours emergency callouts are for. Ring and if it genuinely can't wait, we'll come. If it can safely wait until morning, we'll tell you that too and save you the after-hours rate.
How do you find a leak you can't see?
We start at the water meter to confirm there's a leak at all, then isolate sections of the house to narrow it down — fixtures, hot water line, mains run, slab. It's methodical rather than magic, and it means we dig or cut in one place, not five.
Will my water bill tell me if I have a leak?
Often, yes. A bill that's jumped with no change in habits is the classic sign. The quick check: turn off every tap and appliance, then watch the water meter — if it's still ticking over, water's going somewhere it shouldn't.
Can you help with the insurance side of a burst pipe?
We'll document the failure and the repair properly — photos and a clear written description of what let go — which is what your insurer needs for a water-damage claim. The building damage itself is between you and the insurer, but our paperwork won't be the hold-up.
